Book Review #1: Scarlet And Ivy: The Dance In The Dark

Yes, I finally did a book review and here it is!

'The Dance in the Dark', by amazing author Sophie Cleverly, is the third novel in her series following identical twins, Scarlet and Ivy, as they navigate their way in the daunting Rookwood School. In case you haven't read the first two novels, here is a small recap:

Basically, Scarlet and Ivy used to be just the most ordinary twins, but when Scarlet attends Rookwood School, she suddenly 'dies', or so the principal, Miss Fox says. Ivy, must physically take her place, to make sure that students and teachers don't have any suspicion about the disappearance of Scarlet. The students and teachers don't know Scarlet is dead. Ivy must act just like Scarlet and must pretend to be her. Speed Recap: Scarlet was admitted into an asylum and is rescued. If you want to learn more about Scarlet and Ivy, read the first two books. It might be confusing if you have not read them before reading the third book in the series.

'The Dance in the Dark' is about the upcoming ballet recital is in full preparation and Scarlet is hoping to achieve the lead role. Meanwhile, her teacher Miss Finch suddenly disappears. A strange teacher comes. There are threatening letters being passed on. Could it be Miss Fox? I think that the book was as engaging as her other two books. Sophie Cleverly still has a gripping writing style that captivates the readers.I love how the mystery deepens and laces itself through the novel, gradually becoming darker and deeper. I think that the book was great and left me hanging on every page. Fans of the previous Scarlet and Ivy books will be excited to be reading the third adventure of the two identical yet extremely twins. I think that the book is probably for ten to thirteen year olds, as there is no high modality language in it, yet then actual theme and back story is quite dark and may be 'scary' for younger children.

Out of ten, I would rate this book a 8/10. I really loved this book!
